Some years ago I predicted that the Windows tools phpXXadmin should be replaced, today that proposal will be forced to become reality because one of them has died and the proposal has risen from its ashes stronger than ever! admin!
A few years ago I tried to impulse the idea of making Adminer the main database manager for open source dashboards (hestia, vesta, myvesta, ispconfig), as it provides a universal way to manage any kind of database.
It's ironic how fate unfolded, many of those who criticized the move were actually Windoze system users... lots of clicks and little efficiency... adminer was not what they liked... but it was efficient...
The final argument was the lack of development and security... ironically adminer was never insecure even when its development stopped, and then phpmyadmin is the most insecure of the tools that manage a database, that's why it is so limited in web administration panels...
And now, phppgadmin has recently stopped working during its development, making adminer the only web-based tool to manage PostgreSQL in a friendly and KISS-based way.

Adminer is just another web tool to manage databases, but it manages a any kind of database!
The other side is that Adminer is KISS, no eye candy theme and no featured click and point things.. just view and limited execution of the database.. minimal management as must be!

The problem arose because its development was stagnant, the developer obviously has his own work to attend to and his life, this was from 2021 and we are in 2025 when it was suddenly revived and everything pending was finished.
However, it was not much, more than compatibility with new systems and new features, everything that admin already did was done well and without known problems. Incredible point to highlight.

It has two problems, however, its development is not so community-based and its way of handling it, which is a single file that does everything... which makes it difficult to debug in production environments.
The first problem is that it is a single developer and not a community, this is dangerous because it has already happened that if this single element does not work then its support stagnates. Although there is a fork called adminneo, although it is already community-based, it is not yet as such with many developers (it is the result of another single developer using it in his work https://github.com/pematon)
The second problem is its way of working, which is a single file that does everything, although it is incredibly fast and efficient despite this. However, this makes it difficult to know if it is vulnerable to any component embedded in it.

Currently, although the original software is the work of a single man, it is still adminneo, which is supported by a community, and the main developer who kept adminneo alive has made many add-ons for the original admin that works, has contributed to the original project and there is no longer any danger of abandonment with two solutions on the horizon.
And this is because due to the abandonment of adminrevo (it closed because it reported that people only consumed the product and there was no co-maintainer yet) the community itself looked for a way to see that it did not die completely, although this type of movement does not always have results, others (with adminneo) knew how to light the spark that made its initial developer emerge and so original adminer now revived! Many of the changes in adminneo are integrated into the original admin repo now.
With the abandonment of phppgadmin, Windows users will have to abstain, adminer is trending now and supports multiple databases.
