Codeplex get down? or its really an estrategie?

... late notifications, multiple cracks to the site, excessive inclination to MS products and poor services respect Opensource scheme determined the lifetime of CodePlex, one of the strategies to use code sharing for the benefit of MS that failed together with the famous announcement to share the Visual Studio code and the SQL server version for Linux.

But wait, here there are no lossers, they "cover", interestingly, MS and Github it seems that now they are close friends ... let's be honest, when the projections are bad the businessmen put their beards in soaking.

Far from thinking that free software won, far from some opensource benefit, MS only wants more control, profits and profits, and by associating with Github, it obtains access to private code thanks to the privacy rules of github (read it well). Github can see depending of some license rules of companies in the code that is hosted on their servers if parts requested. Github can veto and even have/erase the source code, although he says that he has not already done so the most important example has been the Skype->Linux bridge that was made two years ago and then erase it abrupted by request based on license rules.

WHY DOWN CODEPLEX? ->; and Github suddenly grows:

To start: CodePlex was attacked several times around 2015, and finish with that the service did not started to support GIT CVS, although in the end it did, already in the last few years there were registered more than a few hundred new repositories .. showing strong preference towards Github and Gitlab the two strongest today.

Seeing this in the last few years Why did he fall? o Why was it launched ?,

Both questions are really the same, the launch of CodePlex was among MS's plans to emulate contribution communities to see some profits from, only that they wanted them to contribute towards with MS, not between the communities.
However, let's see numbers:https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-15/github-is-building-a-coder-s-paradise-it-s-not-coming-cheap ...
  •     Sept 2015: $ 90M
  •     Aug 2016: $ 140M

Numbers for 2017? Obviously with the additions of MS and the recently moved projects, Github now becomes the largest repository of code both hidden and not hidden!

It is no secret that their services were not the best, notifications arrived very late, their biggest integration was towards the "great" Team Foundation Server platform (TFS) which 99% of the projects did not want, in addition to the index of new projects was coming down more and more. By mid-2017 there are less than 350 projects that have committed a source code.
One of the shortcomings that started as a virtue, was that codeplex provided implicit outlook mailing lists (today github and gitlab provide something similar using an activated service hook), but this was a big disadvantage considering that outlook platforms they are the worst against crackers.
The other big mistake, was late integration with Git, that being Googlecode closing they did not know how to take advantage of this, and their services initially were not integrated into GIT, that was a great disadvantage that by the time they managed to do it, many google projects had gone to github .. it was late ... the fame had been reached.
The lack of experience in free registration projects and the provision of mail was a false combination: The spammers took advantage of the CodePlex.com domain to boost their illicit activities. Although the team solved this and other problems in less time; I affect the popularity of this site hosting projects among users. Before all this, they decide to join the enemy instead of perishing in a crude attempt to compete in a terrain that they do not want and that they have never been partisans.

AJA!, AND WHAT HAPPENED THEN?: MS keeps winning

The ancient Library of Alexandria was the largest collection of human knowledge in one place, access to this was very important. Knowledge is power and that requires access to files (in that time was books).

As it happens, MS moved a lot of projects to Github, and now Github is the biggest software center (because we know there are hidden parts in the repositories provados). Let's be sure that MS needs access to all that potential power. It is obvious that there was some bussines between, we are not stupid.
The risk of a devastating loss decreases with the rise of the Internet. However, there are still centralized (hidden private) repositories of specialized information, as well as the threat of a catastrophic loss. That case is Github and its disguised monopolization that was preceded by Sourceforge.
Of course, the short version does not tell you everything, so please read on for more details!

This is part of the legal framework of Github's privacy policies, it is no secret that previous projects are private or have not perished under Github as the bridge between Skype and Linux, it is evidence that if they can do that at the request of a company, umm why not at the request of one like MS? ! ah, but Skype is now MS, what a coincidence!

CONCLUSIONS:

Here who lost is the opensource, and the worst thing is that he loses without being able to do anything without realizing it, more and more monopoly infiltration where it could never be changed, in the minds of developers made from developers of squads of MS.
